Financial Planning

Pilot will help you to develop a financial strategy that’s personal to you and your family. This will ensure that your financial resources are optimised to meet both your short- and longer-term objectives.

Our interactive financial modelling will provide you with a much clearer understanding of your current financial position and the options and trade-offs available to you with regard to your financial future.

We can bring clarity to complex issues, enabling you to see the ‘big picture’ and find answers to important questions such as:

  • When will I be in a position to work because I want to, not because I have to?
  • What exactly are my options, given the resources I have?
  • How much do I need to earn, save, or sell my business for in order to maintain my current lifestyle in retirement?
  • Could I pass on money to my family, or create a legacy and still be sure I’ll never run out?

In short – how much is enough?

Our ultimate aim is to enable you to relax about money and spend more time focusing on what really matters in life.

Financial Planning Vs. Financial Advice

Financial advice usually relates to a particular financial problem on which you are looking for help or guidance. More often than not, the advice relates to a financial product or investment and can be quite technical in nature.

Financial planning, in contrast, is the process of meeting your life goals through the proper management of your finances.

The financial planning process takes a holistic approach to assessing where you are financially. By viewing each financial decision as part of a whole, you can consider its short and long-term effects on your goals.

At Pilot, we are big advocates of financial planning. Naturally, we pride ourselves on having the technical knowledge required to address a wide range of specific tax, investment or product-related issues, if required, but this isn’t often where we add the most value.

A Clear Sense of Direction

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” Alice asked.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll

Pilot’s financial planning service will give you a clear sense of direction and the peace of mind that comes from knowing how your current spending and saving patterns fit into the bigger picture. Crucially, it also provides context and meaning to our more detailed financial and investment advice.

Of course, your objectives and circumstances are likely to evolve over time, just as investment markets and the world around us will also change. For this reason we firmly believe that, at its best, financial planning is a long-term process, rather than a one-off event.

By maintaining regular, pro-active contact, we will continue to work closely with you to review your circumstances and goals, amending and updating your financial plan accordingly.

Our Five Step Planning Process

Our business and its processes are designed around you, the client.

No two people’s circumstances or objectives are the same, so we create a bespoke financial plan, using a structured advice process, for each of our clients. This involves a comprehensive evaluation of all areas of your financial situation.
